For those researchers, who like myself, are curious as to why an American marriage record would appear in the Canadian archives, I have found that records from Cooperville, New York were sent to a Canadian company in order to be microfiched. The microfiched images include records from 1843-1907.
So while the mystery of Clarisse’ parentage has been solved, another mystery or two have developed.
1- Location of records for Jean-Baptiste and Christine Patriz;
2-A death record that appears (on the same page of marriage for Clarisse and Laurence) for an Agate Dragon spouse of Pierre Paulin. (A second post will follow).
Until next post-

Melissa,
I believe I may be the grandson of Elmer Devoe. Although I do not find reference to my mother or grandmother in the little research I have done regarding Elmer, the stories I have been told by my grandmother match up to what I have found. For example, Elmer’s age, place of death, father’s name (George), and the fact George worked in some capacity as ambassador to China.
I you have anything you can share such as where I can find out more about Elmer, I would greatly appreciate your help. I just started down on the ancestry trail.
Feel free to send me an e-mail.
Thank you.
